Apart from Japanese model trains, there's a variety of other things I like to do. These include Märklín H0 scale trains, a little bit of Märklín Z scale trains, building plastic model kits and playing the occasional game. I also love listening to music and watch movies, so I will also keep track of both my cd and dvd collections from this page.
Building kits

I've always liked building these things. I often built planes and trucks by Revell in the early days, not bothering about this little thing called "painting". Over the years I built quite a few kits, most unpainted, some painted really bad, and some actually quite reasonably well done.
I'm by no means an expert and building the kits, but I enjoy doing it. The more parts, the better. Hopefully I'll actually be able to paint the models so that they look believable at some point, and make them last for many years.
Below is a list of the kits I've built, the kits I am building, those that are on my to-build list, and those which are on my wishlist.

Märklín H0 and Z

I like trains of all shapes and sizes really. After moving to Norway and leaving my N-scale behind, I decided to pick up a Märklín H0 scale starter set with 2 digital trains. Märklín has always had incredible running characteristics, and they build some top quality trains. By now I have 9 locomotives, including a German ICE2 and the Union Pacific "Big Boy".
The plans for an H0 layout are only in the early stages, mostly because I have no idea when, if ever, I will have room to build a layout. H0 require a lot of space, even for the somewhat smaller things. The prototype rolling stock wise will be Era I of the Royal Bavarian State Railways, scenery will most likely be a small old town and an area resembling the Black Forest. However, considering the number of Era I Bavarian locomotives I have is a grand total of 2, this whole project might take a while.
There's also Märklín's Z scale, of which I also have a start set. I initially bought it to see if I could build in a digital decoder, and that worked just fine. I might end up building something really small like a suitcase layout, or possibly use some Z scale trains to simulate trains running in the far off distance on the H0 layout.
I'll be keeping track of the various locomotives and buildings for this project in the list below.
Locomotives:
- Märklín 33186 - S3/6
- Märklín 37964 - Gtl 2x4/4
Buildings:
- Vollmer 3739 - Stadtkirche Stuttgart-Berg
Sound & Vision

As I listen to a lot of music and regularly watch movies and series, a good sound system is crucial. Now, I'm no audiophile and from a certain point I can't hear the difference anymore between a good system and a top of the line reference system. With that in mind, I opted for mostly mid-range system components with the exception of the receiver. As this is the main component of the whole system, it's closer to high-end than any of the other stuff, even though it's not high-end as such. Of course, it also depends on who you ask ;)
I won't bore you all with all the details of the system, but the following is a quick run-down. I've also added links to my CD and DVD collections. These are mostly for myself, but I thought it might be interesting for others to see what I have. Of course, the collections will be updated constantly.
